Shea butter is extracted by pressing the kernels of the Butyrospermum parkii, a tree native to Central-West Africa. Characterized by a thick and creamy consistency, this butter has a very high content of oleic and linoleic acid, and a rich unsaponifiable fraction including vitamin A and E, sterols, cinnamic acid esters, and triterpenes, which provide its antioxidant, emollient, hydrating, and protective properties for skin and hair. Its nourishing and protective properties make it ideal for the care of extremely dry or irritated skin, in cases of dermatitis, burns, or cracking.
